Why quartz powder is used for optical fibre

What is quartz powder?
Silica is a colourless transparent crystal or amorphous powder, tasteless. The melting point is 1710 (cristobalite) and 1670 (tridymite); The boiling point is 2230 . It is almost insoluble in water and ordinary acid. It can be soluble in hydrofluoric acid to generate silicon fluoride gas and slowly react with hot concentrated phosphoric acid. The amorphous powder can act with alkali. It has stable physical and chemical properties, is easy to form, is inert, and the melt is layered. The expansion coefficient is small when heated. This product reacts sodium silicate with acid (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, etc.) or with salt (such as ammonium chloride, ammonium sulfate, ammonium bicarbonate, etc.); it is produced by silicic acid precipitation (i.e. hydrated silica), washed with water, removed impurities and dried. Calculated as an incandescent product, the content of&02 should not be less than 99.0%.

What is quartz powder?
Quartz powder is not classified into grades but only specifications. Because of its high whiteness, no impurities, and low iron content, it has a wide range of applications. Glass: flat glass, float glass, glass products (glass cans, glass bottles, glass tubes, etc.), optical glass, glass fibre, glass instruments, conductive glass, glass cloth, and special anti-radiation glass. Ceramics and refractory materials: embryo and glaze of porcelain, high silica bricks for kilns, Raw materials of ordinary silicon bricks and silicon carbide, etc. Building materials: concrete, cementitious materials, road building materials, artificial marble, cement physical property testing materials (chaff spoon, i.e. cement standard sand), etc. Chemical industry: raw materials of silicon compounds and water glass, fillers of the sulfuric acid tower, amorphous silica powder. Machinery: main raw materials of casting sand, abrasive materials (sandblasting, hard abrasive paper, abrasive paper, abrasive cloth, etc.). Electronics: high-purity metal silicon, optical fibre for communication, etc. Rubber, Plastics: fillers (which can improve the wear resistance). Coatings: fillers (which can improve the weather resistance of coatings). Metallurgy: raw materials or additives and fluxes of white silicon metal, ferrosilicon, and silicon aluminium alloy. Aerospace: its internal molecular chain structure, crystal shape and lattice change rules, which make it have high-temperature resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion, high insulation, corrosion resistance, piezoelectric effect, resonance effect and unique optical characteristics. Common packaging is 25KG and 50KG.

Preparation of quartz powder
With tetraethyl orthosilicate as the raw material, tetraethyl orthosilicate is subject to efficient rectification, and the fractions at 160~168 are collected. Then, tetraethyl orthosilicate and ammonia water are mixed and heated in a proportion, fully stirred, and the reactants will change from turbid to viscous until the solution boils. Stop stirring, and the solution is left to settle. After centrifugation, it is dried at a low temperature for a certain period, burned at 900 , and naturally cooled.

Price of quartz powder
Quartz powder particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of quartz powder. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of quartz powder can be found on our company's official website.
