What is chromium oxide?

Preparation of chromium oxide
Reduction method: Mix 99.5% potassium dichromate and 98% sulfur at the mass ratio of 7:1 and then calcine to produce chromium oxide and potassium sulfate. The reaction furnace charge is first wet ground and then put into a stirring tank to wash with hot water. A filter press filters out the chromium oxide to obtain a paste filter cake with a water content of 30% - 35%. Dry the filter cake at 300 , cool it, and crush it to produce a chromium oxide green product. The washing solution contains a large amount of potassium sulfate. Soluble salts such as chromium sulfate and hexavalent chromium can be reduced by adding hydrogen sulfide to form a chromium hydroxide precipitate, filtered out. Hydrochloric acid is added to the filtrate, and the solution is concentrated and crystallized to produce potassium chloride. The sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide gas released during roasting can be absorbed by diluting ammonia water to produce ammonium sulfate.
