What is tantalum carbide?
Tantalum carbide, a transition metal carbide, is a Black or dark brown metallic powder, cubic crystal system, hard, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid, soluble in the mixed solution of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid; Chemical properties are extremely stable; It has excellent physical and chemical properties, such as high hardness, high melting point, good conductivity, and thermal shock resistance, good chemical corrosion resistance, high oxidation resistance, and certain catalytic performance; It is widely used in industry and military. In cemented carbide, it is widely used as an additive. Its main purpose is to improve the high-temperature strength of cemented carbide and inhibit the growth of tungsten carbide particles; In cutting tools, as a hard coating to increase the chemical corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the base metal; In the military, it can significantly improve its ablation resistance and prolong its service life as a coating for jet engine turbine blades and rocket nozzles; At the same time, it can also be used for electrode materials, which can be cut into complex shapes by electric spark wire; As the second phase particle reinforced metal matrix composite, it is used in aerospace, metallurgy, building materials, electric power, hydropower, mining, and other fields.
Use of tantalum carbide
Among carbides, the best melting resistance is tantalum carbide (TaC) (melting point 3890 ) and hafnium carbide (HfC) (melting point 3880 ), followed by zirconium carbide (ZrC))=(melting point 3500 ). These materials have excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures, which greatly exceeds the best polycrystalline graphite, especially tantalum carbide, which is the only material that can maintain certain mechanical properties within the temperature range of 2900 - 3200 . Still, its disadvantage is extremely sensitive to thermal shock. The low thermal conductivity and high thermal expansion coefficient of carbides have become the biggest obstacle to the application of aerospace materials. Adding tantalum carbide to carbon/carbon composites will have higher thermal conductivity and lower thermal expansion conditions and give play to refractory metals' oxidation and ablation resistance.

Preparation of tantalum carbide
The basic principle of the sol-gel method for coating preparation is to take metal alkoxides or inorganic salts as precursors and dissolve them in the solvent to form a uniform solution; the solute and the solvent generate hydrolysis or alcoholysis reaction; the reaction products aggregate into several particles of about nanometer size, and form a gel, and then use the soil as the raw material to coat various substrates. After the sol film is a gel and dried, the dry gel film is obtained. Finally, the required coating can be obtained by sintering at a certain temperature.

Price of tantalum carbide
Tantalum carbide particle size and purity will affect the product's Price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of tantalum carbide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The Price of tantalum carbide can be found on our company's official website.
