What is cuprous oxide?
Cuprous oxide is a bright red powder solid and almost insoluble in water. It disproportionates into divalent copper and copper in acidic solution, and gradually oxidizes into black copper oxide in wet air. Cuprous oxide is mainly used for the manufacture of antifouling paint on the bottom of ships, pesticides, and various copper salts, analytical reagents, red glass.
Preparation of cuprous oxide
The glucose reduction synthesis method of film solution: dissolve 50g of copper sulfate pentahydrate and 75g of potassium sodium tartrate in 200mL of cold water, respectively, and mix the two when the solution is cooled to room temperature. In addition, dissolve 75g of sodium hydroxide in 200 mL of water to prepare an alkali solution. When stirring the mixed solution, slowly add the alkali solution, and carefully keep the solution's temperature to prevent the solution's temperature from rising; let the solution turn dark blue. Heat and boil the bivalent copper salt solution, add 10% glucose solution until the blue disappears, and precipitate red cuprous oxide. Then put it into 1L of cold water, leave it for about 15min, and discard the upper clarifier: add water, stir, decant, and filter with a Buchner funnel; The sediment was washed twice with 15mL water, then washed three times with ethanol, and finally dried in an air bath.

Properties and stability of cuprous oxide
1. If it is used and stored according to the specifications, it will not decompose, and there is no known dangerous reaction. Avoid oxides, moisture/moisture, air
2. It will not encounter dilute sulfuric acid and dilute nitric acid to form copper salt. It will quickly turn blue in the air. It can be dissolved in concentrated alkali, ferric chloride, and other solutions. It is highly toxic
3. Although cuprous oxide is stable in dry air, it will slowly oxidize in wet air to form copper oxide, so it can be used as a deoxidizer. It is also easy to reduce it to metallic copper by reducing agents. Cuprous oxide is insoluble in water and dissolves by forming a complex with ammonia solution and concentrated halogenated acid. It is very easy to dissolve in an alkaline aqueous solution.

Price of cuprous oxide
Cuprous oxide particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of cuprous oxide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of cuprous oxide can be found on our company's official website.
