What is cuprous oxide?
Cuprous oxide ,a bright red powdery solid that is almost insoluble in water and disproportionates into bivalent copper and copper in an acidic solution; it is gradually oxidized into black copper oxide in wet air. Cuprous oxide is mainly used to manufacture antifouling paint on the bottom of ships (used to kill low-level marine animals), pesticides, various copper salts, analytical reagents, red glass.
Properties of cuprous oxide
1. Cuprous oxide is soluble in hydrochloric acid to form HCuCl2 (complex of cuprous chloride) and also soluble in sulfuric acid and nitric acid to form copper sulfate and copper nitrate, respectively
2. Although cuprous oxide is stable in dry air, if the air is wet, it will slowly oxidize to form copper oxide so that it can be used as a deoxidizer; In addition, it is easy to reduce it to metal copper by reducing agent
3. Cuprous oxide is insoluble in water and dissolves in an alkaline aqueous solution by forming a complex with an aqueous ammonia solution and concentrated halogen acid
4. Disproportionation into bivalent copper in an acidic solution indicates that the stability of bivalent copper ions in the solution is greater than that of monovalent copper ions, such as the reaction of cuprous oxide and sulfuric acid to produce copper sulfate and copper.

Main uses of cuprous oxide
Cuprous oxide is used to manufacture antifouling paint on the bottom of ships to kill low-level marine animals and as a fungicide for agriculture. Cuprous oxide is also used as a colorant for ceramics and enamels, a colorant for red glass, and in manufacturing various copper salts and analytical reagents. Cuprous oxide is used in the manufacture of cupreous rubellite glass. This kind of glass is fused with colloidal metal copper; This shows the red color of the copper ruby glass. Increasing the silicon oxide content in the glass can form a good and stable color. To make the copper ruby glass, adding a reducing agent - tartrate or carbon powder compatible with cuprous oxide in the batch composition is necessary. In addition, adding tin in the form of salt oxide in the batch protects the colloid and prevents the excessive growth of the colorant grain, which will form a "liver color" if the grain is too large.

Price of cuprous oxide
Cuprous oxide particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of cuprous oxide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of cuprous oxide can be found on our company's official website.
