What is Boron nitride?
Boron nitride is a crystal composed of nitrogen atoms and boron atoms. The chemical composition is 43.6% boron and 56.4% nitrogen, with four different variants: hexagonal boron nitride (HBN), rhombohedral boron nitride (RBN), cubic boron nitride (CBN) and wurtzite boron nitride (WBN).

Most properties of boron nitride are better than those of carbon materials.
For hexagonal boron nitride: low friction coefficient, good high-temperature stability, good thermal shock resistance, high strength, high thermal conductivity, low expansion coefficient, high resistivity, corrosion resistance, microwave or infrared transmission.
1. High heat resistance: sublimation at 3000, its strength at 1800 is twice that of room temperature, and it will not break after air cooling at 1500 to room temperature for dozens of times, and it will not soften at 2800 in inert gas.
2. High thermal conductivity: The hot-pressed product is 33W/M.K. Like pure iron, it has the highest thermal conductivity among ceramic materials above 530.
3. Low thermal expansion coefficient: The expansion coefficient of 2×10-6 is second only to that of Shi Ying glass, which is the smallest among ceramics. In addition, it has high thermal conductivity, so it has good thermal shock resistance.
4. Excellent electrical properties: Good insulation at high temperatures, 1014 Ω-cm at 25 and 103Ω-cm at 2000. It is the best high-temperature insulation material in ceramics, with a breakdown voltage of 3KV/MV, a low dielectric loss of 2.5×10-4 at 108HZ, a dielectric constant of 4, and transparent to microwaves and infrared rays.
5. Good corrosion resistance: It does not react with common metals (iron, copper, aluminum, lead, etc.), rare earth metals, precious metals, semiconductor materials (germanium, silicon, potassium arsenide), glass, molten salt (crystal stone, fluoride, slag), inorganic acids and alkali.
6. Low friction coefficient: U is 0.16, which does not increase at high temperatures. Compared with molybdenum disulfide and graphite, it has high-temperature resistance and can be used to 900 in an oxidizing atmosphere and 2000 in a vacuum.
7. High purity and high B: its impurity content is less than 10PPM, while its B content is more than 43.6%.
8. Machinability: Its hardness is Mohs 2, so it can be processed into parts with high precision by general machining methods.
