Description
Tellurium Oxide TeO2 Powder Properties

About Tellurium Oxide TeO2 powder:

Tellurium dioxide or tellurium oxide is an inorganic compound. Tellurium dioxide's chemical formula is TeO2. White powder. White crystals. Tetragonal crystal structure, heating yellow, melting is dark yellow-red, slightly soluble in water, strong acid, and tellurium dioxide. TeO2 is the solid oxide of tellurium. Kali, and forms double salt. Tellurium dioxide TeO2 is the solid oxide of tellurium. It comes in two forms: the yellow trapezoid mineral β-TeO2 tellurite and the synthetic colorless tetragonal (dicurellurite) α-TeO2. TeO2 may be a teratogen, and contact with tellurium compounds produces ethyl telluride, which produces a garlic-like odor on the breath.

Performance of Tellurium Oxide TeO2 powder:

Tellurium dioxide is insoluble in water or ammonia but in strong acids and alkalis as an amphoteric compound. This white solid tellurium dioxide powder will become yellowish after heating and turn dark yellowish red after fusing. Its unique characteristics are that tellurium dioxide is an integral part of acousto-optic products, has good diffraction efficiency, and works very well at most power levels.

How is Tellurium Oxide TeO2 powder produced?
Metal tellurium or telluride oxidation: The reaction of metal tellurium or telluride with oxygen or air at high temperatures can produce tellurium oxide. This is currently the most commonly used method of producing tellurium oxide.

Preparation by telluride solution: Aqueous solution containing soluble telluride (such as telluride chloride) reacts with an alkaline compound (such as sodium hydroxide) to form an oxide of tellurium. Tellurium oxide can be obtained by washing and drying the precipitate.

Ion exchange method: Some ion exchangers can effectively adsorb bivalent or quadrivalent tellurium ions in solution, oxidize them to +4 valence tellurium ions, and obtain tellurium oxide through an acid-base neutralization reaction. This method mainly extracts and recovers tellurium oxide from wastewater or waste materials.

Electrochemical method: under certain potential and current conditions, tellurium oxide can be obtained by electrolysis of tellurium-containing solution. This method is not commonly used because of its complex equipment and the possibility of introducing other impurities.

Applications of Tellurium Oxide TeO2 powder:
Tellurium dioxide can be used in different fields depending on its purity and form.
Glass shapers for tellurite glass frit, single-crystal tellurium dioxide for optical devices, front silver paste for solar cells, rubber vulcanization accelerator, and electroplating chemical additive.
Tellurium dioxide is sometimes used to color ceramics.
Tellurium dioxide has been increasingly used in optical refraction applications such as fiber optics and free products.
Tellurium dioxide can even be used in high-speed or high-resolution equipment that handles high laser power.
Tellurium dioxide is used to prepare single-crystal tellurium dioxide, infrared devices, acousto-optic devices, infrared window materials, electronic components, preservatives, etc. Packing in polythene bottles.
In addition, tellurium dioxide has the following functions:
Used as an acoustooptic deflection element.
Used for disinfection, identification of bacteria in vaccines, etc.
The preparation of two - to six compound semiconductors, a thermoelectric conversion element, a refrigeration element, a piezoelectric crystal, and an infrared detector.
It is used as an acousto-optic material.
Tellurium dioxide is also a reluctant glass-forming agent, which will form glass under appropriate cooling conditions or with small moles % of second compounds, such as oxides or halides.TeO2 glass has a high refractive index and can be transmitted to the mid-infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum, so it has an important technical value in optical waveguides. Tellurite glasses also show up to 30 times the Raman gain of silicon, which is useful in optical fiber amplification.

Storage Condition of Tellurium Oxide TeO2 powder:
Tellurium Oxide TeO2 powder should be stored in dry, cool and sealing of the environment, can not be exposure to air, in addition, should avoid the heavy pressure, according to ordinary goods transportation.
