What is zinc stearate?

Solubility: insoluble in water, alcohol, and ether. Soluble in benzene, turpentine, and other organic solvents. Synthesis of zinc stearate
(1) Preparation of sodium stearate solution Dissolve stearic acid in 20 times (mass) of hot water, add 1074 kg/m3 (10 ° B é) of caustic soda solution, and saponify at about 75 to produce a dilute sodium stearate solution
(2) Add 1074 kg/m3 (10 ° B é) of zinc sulfate aqueous solution to the sodium stearate solution prepared above, and carry out the double decomposition reaction at about 60 . The product zinc stearate is precipitated. Then, it is filtered, washed, and dried at about 90 to obtain the finished product
(3) Dissolve 15g of sodium stearate in 1L of hot water and add it to the excess zinc chloride solution with a concentration of 1% while it is hot. Stir it fully to separate the solid zinc stearate soap, then wash it with water by pouring it until there is no zinc salt. Dry it in an air bath at 115~120 for 10~12h to obtain a flaky zinc stearate product. Crush it and store it in a sealed glass bottle.
 
Use of zinc stearate
1. It can be used as a non-toxic stabilizer for PVC, with low initial coloration and good weather resistance.
