What is nickel oxide?

Nickel oxide is a greenish-black cubic crystal, soluble in acid and ammonia, insoluble in water, yellow when heated, relative density 6.67, melting point 1984℃.When heated to 400℃, it becomes nickel trioxide by absorbing oxygen from the air. It was reduced to nickel oxide at 600℃.The nickel oxide obtained by calcining at 1000℃ is green and yellow.


Synthesis of nickel oxide

Nickel oxide synthesis method has a lot of, mainly in solid method, homogeneous precipitation method, sol-gel method, emulsion polymerization, the thermal decomposition of oxalate method and so on, at present, the industry generally used liquid phase wet chemical precipitates calcination method, namely, nickel carbonate pyrolysis production of nickel oxide, specific process for the purification of qualified nickel solution, adding sodium carbonate, nickel carbonate precipitation, filtered, washed of sodium, after drying, calcining thermal decomposition, obtain the target product of nickel oxide.

Applications of nickel oxide

Nitrous oxide is also widely used in ceramic industry as a densifier and colorant for enamels and as a raw material for nickel-zinc ferrite in magnetic material production. In the glass industry, the colorant for tawny glass and picture tube glass cases is also used in the manufacture of nickel salts, nickel catalysts and secondary batteries, for electroplating of ni-Cr alloys to make the coatings fine, as well as in the manufacture of batteries and other nickel salts and catalysts.
