Metallization of Aluminum nitride ceramic surfaces

1. Membrane process ,Theoretically any metal film can be plated on any substrate material by vapor deposition, but in order to obtain a substrate/metal film system with better bond strength, it is generally required that the thermal expansion coefficient of the two should be matched as much as possible.


2. Thick film method, Thick film metallization method covers the ceramic surface with a layer of thick film paste according to the pre-designed pattern on the aluminum nitride ceramic substrate through screen printing and other technologies. Brazing metal layer, circuit and lead connection can meet different requirements after sintering

3. The high-melting point metal method, also known as Mo-Mn method, is based on the metallization formula of refractory metal powder Mo, followed by a small amount of low-melting point Mn, adding binder to coat the ceramic surface, and then sintering to form a metallized layer.
 

4. Electroless plating method, Electroless plating method is to use reducing agent to reduce the metal ions in the solution on the surface of the catalytic activity to form a metal coating.


5. Direct copper coating method, It introduces oxygen elements between Cu and ceramics, then forms Cu/O eutectic liquid phase at 1065~1083℃, then reacts with ceramic matrix and copper foil to form Cu(AlO2)2, and realizes bonding between copper foil and matrix under the action of mesophase.

Applications of Aluminum nitride

Aluminum nitride is a kind of natural artificial crystal, with a hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure, for the strong covalent bond compound, light weight, high strength, high heat resistance, corrosion resistance, has been used as the crucible of molten aluminum, while aluminum is a kind of semiconductor, but its the bandwidth, the electric strength, volume resistivity, dielectric coefficient of the group of the low power, it can be divided into insulators. So piezoelectric ceramics have been developed using their piezoelectric properties.
