Span 20 is a sorbitan dodecanoate, an amber oily liquid. The sorbitan monolaurate can be miscible with organic solvents and oils to form a semi lotion solution in water. Using sorbitol as the raw material, sorbitol is formed through dehydration closed-loop, and then esterified with lauric acid to prepare it.
