What is Aluminum nitride?
Aluminium nitride (AIN) is a covalently bonded compound, a covalent crystal, belongs to the diamond nitride, hexagonal crystal system, fibre and zinc mineral type crystal structure, non-toxic, the appearance is white or grey white. At 2516℃ decomposition, the thermal hardness is very high and does not soften the deformation even before the decomposition temperature.

But in commercial practice, a lot of difficulties need to be overcome. Aluminium nitride is used in photoelectric engineering, including an electric induction layer in the optical storage interface and electronic matrix, wafer carrier at high thermal conductivity, and for military purposes. In addition, aluminium nitride ceramics is a new type of high-technology ceramics. Aluminium nitride substrate has extremely high thermal conductivity, is non-toxic, has corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and good thermal chemical stability, etc. It is the ideal packaging material, heat dissipation material, circuit components and interconnection line carrier for large-scale integrated circuits, semiconductor module circuits and high-power devices. Also, to improve the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of polymer materials, aluminium nitride ceramics can be used for smelting of nonferrous metals and semiconductor materials, gallium arsenide crucible, thermocouple protection pipe, high-temperature insulation, microwave dielectric materials, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistant structure ceramics and transparent aluminium nitride microwave ceramic products, used as high thermal conductivity ceramic production raw materials and resin filler, etc. Aluminium nitride is an electrical insulator with good dielectric properties. The aluminium nitride coating on the surface of gallium arsenide protects it from ion injection during annealing.
