What is Aluminum Nitride?
Aluminum nitride, it's a covalently bonded compound, has the chemical formula AlN.
Aluminum nitride is covalently crystalline, of the diamond-like nitride, hexagonal crystal system, fibrous zincite type crystal structure, and is non-toxic. Aluminum nitride powder is white or off-white in color.
 
Properties of Aluminu Nitride Powder
Aluminium nitride has good thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion, making it a good heat-resistant impact material.
Aluminum nitride is highly resistant to erosion by molten metals and is an ideal crucible material for melting and casting pure iron, aluminum, or aluminum alloys.
Aluminum nitride is also an electrical insulator with good dielectric properties and is promising for use as an electrical component.
Aluminum nitride has good mechanical properties, higher flexural strength than Al2O3 and BeO ceramics, and can be sintered at atmospheric pressure.
Aluminum nitride has high thermal conductivity (approx. 320 W/m-K), close to that of BeO and SiC, and more than 5 times that of Al2O3.

1. Fillers for thermally conductive materials

2. Aluminum nitride ceramic substrates and packaging for electronic devices
Aluminum nitride (AlN) is the ideal material for a new generation of heat sink substrates and electronic device packaging. The sintered aluminum nitride substrates have ultra-high thermal conductivity, high electrical insulation, and a coefficient of thermal expansion that matches that of semiconductor materials such as silicon, making them suitable for the packaging of mixed power switches and microwave vacuum tube packaging housing materials, as well as being ideal for large-scale integrated circuit substrates.
 
3. Aluminium nitride structural ceramics
Sintered by dry pressing and cold isostatic pressing processes, aluminum nitride ceramics have high thermal conductivity, low dielectric loss, good mechanical properties, high hardness, good toughness, high temperature, and corrosion resistance, etc. They can be used for semiconductor electrostatic suction cups, high-temperature corrosion resistant components, etc. They are widely used in semiconductor and medical fields.
 
In addition, aluminum nitride (AlN) can maintain stable performance under a non-oxidizing atmosphere at around 1500. It is not infiltrated with aluminum, copper, silver, lead, and other metals and can be used as a basic raw material for vapor plating crucible, metal melting crucible, and firing casting mold. Nano aluminum nitride can enhance the thermal conductivity, rigidity, and strength of the base material.
