What is Tin Disulfide SnS2?
Tin disulfide is an inorganic compound with the formula SnS2. It is a golden crystal or yellow amorphous solid. In industry, tin shavings (or tin amalgam) is co-heated with thihua and ammonium chloride to obtain golden flake crystallization (dry method), which is called colored gold. Hydrogen sulfide is introduced into tin (Ⅳ) salt solution with proper acidity to obtain yellow amorphous precipitation (wet method). Insoluble in water. Soluble in aqua regia, alkali metal sulfide (to form thiostannate), strong alkali (to form thiostannate and hexahydroxystannate) and other solutions. The wet product is soluble in warm medium concentration of hydrochloric acid, while the dry product is insoluble in hydrochloric acid. 

What is Tin Disulfide SnS2 Used For?
Tin disulfide is an N-type semiconductor material with layered hexagonal CdI2 crystal structure and a broadband energy gap of about 2.35eV. The wide band gap makes it have good optical and electrical properties, which can be used as holographic recording and electrical conversion system material, solar cell material and anode material of lithium electronic battery, etc. Because tin disulfide has similar band gap width with silicon, and it is safe and environmentally-friendly, and the absorption coefficient is also very high, it is very suitable for solar cell absorption layer. In recent years it has become a research hotspot, it can also be used for imitation gold plating and pigment.
