What is Nitinol alloy?
The world population is growing, globalization has improved the living standards of many countries, and people's life expectancy is also increasing. With the improvement of living standards and the choices people make, diseases related to lifestyle (such as cardiovascular diseases) are increasing. Companies compete in manufacturing medical equipment to cure challenging physical conditions and diseases. New materials are an integral part of supporting such design and development. One of the materials is NiTi, which was accidentally discovered by William J. Buehler during his research at the US Naval Ordnance Laboratory in White Oak, Maryland, in 1959. Nitinol began to be used in medical equipment in the late 1980s, representing Nitinol Naval Ordnance Laboratory.
Characteristics of Ni-Ti-N alloy
Corrosion resistance: some studies show that the corrosion resistance of Ni-Ti wire is similar to that of stainless steel wire. Anti-toxicity: Ni-Ti shape memory alloy has a special chemical composition; that is, it is a nickel-titanium and other atomic alloy containing about 50% nickel, which is known to have carcinogenic and cancer-promoting effects. In general, titanium oxidation on the surface layer acts as a barrier, making Ni-Ti alloy have good biocompatibility. TiXOy and TixNiOy in the surface layer can inhibit the release of Ni.

Principle of memory properties of ni-ti-no alloy
Such special characteristics of Nitinol alloy come from a solid reversible phase transformation called martensitic transformation, which can generate 10000 to 20000 psi mechanical stress between two different transformation phases. At higher temperatures, the memory alloy forms a crystalline structure called austenite (parent phase). The memory alloy spontaneously converts at a lower temperature to a more complex martensite structure (Daughter phase). The transformation temperature between austenite and martensite is usually called transformation temperature. More specifically, there are four transformation temperatures. The transformation temperature at which martensite begins to transform into austenite is called Ms. When a certain temperature below Ms remains unchanged, a small part of the austenite structure changes rapidly but will not continue. When the temperature is further reduced, more austenite will be transformed into martensite. Finally, the temperature reaches Mf's martensitic transformation end temperature, and the martensitic transformation ends. On the contrary, after the alloy completely forms martensite, it is heated to form austenite. This transformation's starting and ending temperatures are called As and Af, respectively.

Price of nitinol alloy
Nitinol alloy particle size and purity will affect the product's Price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of nitinol alloy. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The Price of nitinol alloy can be found on our company's official website.
