What is tungsten powder?
Tungsten powder is a metal tungsten with a powder appearance, which is the raw material of tungsten processing materials, tungsten alloy, and tungsten products for a metallic shiny gray-black metal (body heart cubic crystallization). The tungsten has a density of 19.35 g / cubic centimeter, close to the gold, with a melting point of 3,400℃—a boiling point of 5,555℃. The hardness of tungsten is the hardest metal. The hardness of the sintered tungsten bar is 200~250, and the tungsten bar after the spinning hammer is 350~400. The chemical property of tungsten is very stable, does not react with air and water at room temperature, does not react with any concentration of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, or hydrofluoric acid, but can be quickly dissolved in a mixture of hydrofluoric acid and concentrated nitric acid, and does not work in the alkali solution. There are two variants of tungsten, A and B. The A-form is a stable body-centered cubic structure at standard temperature and atmospheric pressure. Type B tungsten occurs only in the presence of oxygen. It is stable below 630℃ and then converted into A-tungsten above 630℃, and the process is irreversible.
Main uses of tungsten powder
Tungsten is mostly used in the production of carbide and tungsten iron. Tungsten and chromium, molybdenum, and cobalt heat resistant alloy are used for making cutting tools, metal surface hardening materials, gas turbine blades, and combustion tubes: tungsten and tantalum, niobium, molybdenum, and another refractory alloy. Tungsten copper and silver tungsten alloys are used as electrical contact point materials. High-density tungsten nickel-copper alloy is used as a protective screen against radiation. Wire, rods, and pieces of tungsten are used to make electric light bulbs, tube components, and arc welding electrodes. Tungsten powder can be fired into various porosity filters. FW-1 is used for the large slab, tungsten, and rhenium electrocouples. FW-2 is used for contact alloy, high specific gravity shielding raw material. FWP-1 is used for the plasma spraying material. In addition, tungsten powder is the main raw material for processing powder metallurgy tungsten products and tungsten alloys. Pure tungsten powder can be made into silk, rod, tube, plate, and other processing materials and certain shape products. Tungsten powder is mixed with other metal powder. It can be made into various tungsten alloys, such as tungsten molybdenum alloy, tungsten rhenium alloy, tungsten copper alloy, and high-density tungsten alloy. Another important application of tungsten powder is to make tungsten carbide powder and then prepare carbide tools, such as car knives, milling cutters, drills, and molds.
