Recently, BYD released the latest production and sales data showing that a total of 331,817 new energy vehicles were sold in May, a year-on-year increase of 38.13%; the cumulative sales this year are about 1.27 million, a year-on-year increase of 26.8%.

Among them, about 146,000 pure electric models were sold in May, and the cumulative sales this year were about 580,000, a year-on-year increase of 18.9%; plug-in hy brid models sold about 184,000 units in May, and the cumulative sales this year were about 686,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 35.07%.

Previously, it was proposed that BYD will grow by more than 20% in 2024 and hit an annual sales of 3.6 million vehicles. According to this calculation, BYD's sales task this year has been completed by about 35%.

This year, BYD launched a new generation of e-platform 3.0 Evo and the fifth generation of DM technology. The new e-platform 3.0 Evo integrates five new technology clusters: CTB vehicle safety architecture, 12-in-1 intelligent electric drive, intelligent wide temperature range high-efficiency heat pump, full-domain intelligent, fast charging, and intelligent motion control; the fifth-generation DM technology adopts an electric-based power architecture, and the plug-in hy brid dedicated high-efficiency engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 46.06%. The power density of the EHS electric hy brid system is increased by 70.28%, and the comprehensive working condition efficiency reaches 92%. The blade battery dedicated to plug-in hy brid has an energy density increase of 15.9%.

The Qin L DM-i and Haibao 06 DM-i, which are the first to be equipped with the fifth-generation DM technology, have a CLTC working condition power consumption of 10.7kWh/100km, a 65L fuel tank, and a maximum range of more than 2,500 kilometers.

New energy vehicle battery insulation material—aerogel

Aerogel, a lightweight solid material formed by the aggregation of nano-colloidal particles, constructs a unique nano-skeleton and nano-porous network structure filled with a gaseous dispersion medium. Its internal pore structure is uniform, the pore size is much smaller than that of steamed buns, and most of the pores are interconnected. At the same time, the particle size of the aerogel skeleton is much smaller than that of the flour skeleton. This special structure makes the aerogel appear like smoke in the air, hence the name "frozen smoke."

Aerogel has a series of remarkable characteristics, including low thermal conductivity, high-temperature resistance limit, thin and light product, high hydrophobicity, excellent dimensional stability, and lightweight and moderate flexibility. Aerogel insulation pad, which is composed of ultra-thin aerogel felt and PET/PI film is not only flame-retardant and non-powdering but also has excellent thermal conductivity at room temperature. The fireproof package of new energy batteries can effectively isolate the diffusion of heat to the surrounding cells, protect the normal operation of the surrounding cells, and play the role of insulation and buffering.

Battery insulation pad is made of pre-oxidized silk or other aerogel composite materials as the core, combined with polymer film or flame-retardant coating. It is mainly used for thermal protection between power lithium battery cells, which can prevent thermal runaway of the cells and significantly improve the safety of new energy vehicles. When a cell has a thermal runaway, the aerogel insulation pad can prevent heat from transferring to adjacent cells to avoid a domino effect. In addition, it also has good compression performance, adapting to the expansion and contraction changes of the battery during the charging and discharging process.

With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, battery thermal runaway has become a primary safety issue. The application of aerogel insulation materials has significantly improved the safety of new energy vehicles. Compared with traditional insulation materials, aerogel felt requires a smaller thickness to achieve the same insulation effect. At present, many automotive power battery manufacturers have widely adopted silica aerogel insulation composite felt as a separator material.

In the field of new energy vehicles, aerogel materials are also widely used in thermal insulation and shockproof between power battery modules and shells, external cold-proof layers of battery boxes, and high-temperature insulation layers. This helps to achieve more effective battery temperature control and electronic control management and reduces the risk of battery thermal runaway. At the same time, the aerogel vacuum hot press, as a new type of high-temperature and high-pressure hot pressing technology equipment, also plays an important role in the preparation of aerogel materials.
