Concrete release agent refers to a substance applied on the construction formwork before concrete pouring, so that the formwork will not stick to the concrete surface, it is not easy to remove the mold, or affect the finish of the concrete surface.
Its main function is to form a film between the formwork and the concrete surface to separate them, so it is also called isolating agent.

1. What is the role of mold release agent in engineering?
First of all, any cementitious material has an inherent strong bonding effect, and it still has a certain adhesion with the molded external mold after hardening, so it needs to be successfully detached to keep the original surface of the component. Furthermore, there is no large amount of residue in the mold to be easy to clean up and subsequent reuse. The release agent acts as an isolation between the two substances.

2. What are the mold release agents?
In modern engineering, there are three kinds of release agents used in concrete or mortar formwork: oily, waterborne and resin.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of oily and resin release agents?
Oily type is a kind of traditional template release agent, which has a wide range of applications, convenient for raw materials and easy to smear, but because of its own material characteristics, it has a certain pollution on the surface of components, which affects the appearance after mold removal. If it is required by plain components, it is not conducive to natural decoration, and oily release agent is not suitable for use at low temperature, especially at negative temperature.
Resin is designed for special molding processing, it is an auxiliary agent for the production of epoxy resin products, general building components are not necessary to use.

4. What kind of material is water-based release agent? what are its advantages and disadvantages?
Water-based release agent is a kind of chemical release agent, which is synthesized by polymer and a variety of chemically active substances through a special process, because non-oily fats can be diluted with water, so it is called water-based release agent.
Good products such as arbitrary dilution will not have similar oily substances to emerge.
It has the advantages of fast film formation and simple peeling, and is suitable for moulds made of steel, wood, glass, plastic and so on.
And can also protect steel and wooden moulds, such as anti-rust, waterproof and so on.
Because the viscosity is obviously lower than that of oily materials, spraying, brushing and rolling processes can be used, especially cloud-like spraying, which can be used in such a variety of processes, no matter what type of concrete surface it is, whether it is a single plane or a textured surface with artistic requirements.
It requires multi-component production and cannot be used locally.

5. When the water-based release agent is diluted, what is the appropriate proportion?
In principle, the effect of spraying with raw liquid is the best, taking into account the problem of performance-to-price ratio, under appropriate formwork and concrete performance conditions, it can be diluted appropriately, but at present, it is generally recommended that it should not be diluted more than five times, especially at low negative temperature. too much water makes the ice layer form before the isolation film, but has no effect.

6. What effect will be achieved after the use of water-based release agents?
The concrete surface with correct use of water-based release agent has less air bubbles without honeycomb hemp surface, no pulverization, no chromatic aberration, and is in the shape of marble.
Moreover, it has a protective effect on the tools for the use and laying of concrete, forming a thin coating on the surface of the corresponding objects, which is easy to clean and avoid rust.

7. How to use water-based release agent correctly?
Make sure that there should be no excess residue on the mold surface before use, and that the edges and corners should be sprayed evenly.
If there is rust on the surface of the steel mold, the rust should be removed first, and then the release agent should be used after brushing a layer of surface paint, so as not to affect the use effect.
After spraying the release agent, dry it at room temperature for about ten minutes, and then start pouring concrete.

8. Is there anything else you should pay special attention to when using water-based release agents?
Spray release agent must be stirred evenly when using.
Because the release agent is applied to the template to be dried, a complete film needs to be formed (especially the steel mold).
Therefore, when brushing, you need to brush evenly carefully to prevent leakage of brushes, air bubbles, impurities and so on.
When the products of steam curing environment (gas block, pipe pile factory, etc.) are demoulded, the effect of spraying release agent is better when the template and mold are heated.
