What is zinc stearate?
Zinc stearate is a kind of organic matter, chemical formula is C36H70O4Zn, is a white powder, insoluble in water.
It is mainly used as lubricant and release agent of styrene resin, phenolic resin and amino resin.
At the same time, it also has the function of vulcanizing active agent and softener in rubber.

The role of zinc stearate in the soft joint of acid and alkali resistant rubber
Acid and alkali resistant rubber soft joint, referred to as rubber joint, rubber soft joint is composed of fabric reinforced rubber parts and flat joints, sleeve metal flanges or threaded pipe flanges, which are used for pipe vibration isolation, noise reduction and displacement compensation.
It is a kind of pipe joint with high elasticity, high air tightness, medium resistance and weather resistance.
According to Beit Chemical understanding: zinc stearate is a white powder, insoluble in water, soluble in hot ethanol, benzene, toluene, turpentine and other organic solvents; encountered acid decomposed into stearic acid and corresponding salts; it is dangerous under dry conditions, self-ignition point 900 ℃.
Zinc stearate is mainly used as lubricant and release agent of styrene resin, phenolic resin and amino resin, as well as vulcanizing active agent and softener in rubber.
It is mainly used in acid and alkali resistant rubber soft joints containing natural rubber NR, BR, SBR, NBR and so on. Zinc stearate is an active agent (approved by FDA) of acid and alkali resistant rubber soft joint acid vulcanization accelerator, which will significantly affect the formation rate and number of acid and alkali resistant rubber soft joint crosslinks.

Classification of zinc stearate
Zinc stearate can be divided into solid zinc stearate and water-based zinc stearate.

Production method of zinc stearate
There are two production methods of zinc stearate: water method and melting method.
Generally speaking, zinc stearate produced by water method is acidic and alkaline by melting method.
The water method is also called the wet method under the condition of water as the medium, adding the catalyst to control a certain temperature and pressure, and then adding the metal hydroxide to replace the metal ions on the catalyst through the catalyst. and then through the catalyst itself and then replaced to stearic acid, so as to achieve the purpose of forming metal salts.

Stearate through centrifugation, drying, grinding to get 200-600 mesh of products in line with the industry standard.
Stearic acid is usually slightly excessive in water production, so the finished product is acidic after the reaction.
The melting method, also known as the dry method, refers to the direct addition of metal oxides (zinc oxide) to the molten stearic acid (of course, in the presence of the catalyst, otherwise the conversion rate of the reaction will be very long) to control a certain temperature, pressure and stirring speed, through the reaction to get stearate.
The products produced by dry process can be completely reacted due to the existence of catalysts, and the metal oxides are slightly excessive, so the products are alkaline in detection.
