The Purpose of the Titanium

Titanium alloys can also be used as fuel and oxidizer tanks and high pressure vessels. Titanium alloy has been used to manufacture automatic rifles, mortar panels and the firing tubes of recoilless guns. In the petroleum industry mainly for a variety of containers, reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, pipelines, pumps and valves. Problems Faced by Titanium Applications

Because it is difficult to extract and process, the cost of titanium preparation is always high, and it is difficult to popularize on a large scale. Metal injection molding (MIM) is a kind of near-net forming technology formed by introducing modern plastic injection molding technology into the field of powder metallurgy, which can effectively solve the difficult problem of titanium processing and realize the large-scale production of small complex titanium products. However, at present, expensive spherical titanium powder is mostly used in titanium MIM raw materials, which leads to high final product cost and limits its large-scale application.

Low-cost Titanium Hydride

Using low-cost titanium hydride powder to replace spherical titanium powder in whole or in part, the evolution of tissue structure of MIM injection embryo added by titanium hydride powder was studied during degreasing and vacuum sintering. It was found that the irregular shape of titanium hydride powder would decrease the catalytic degreasing rate and increase the carbon and oxygen content of sintered samples. TiC particles are produced during sintering, thus improving the strength, hardness and friction resistance of the sample. Studies have shown that appropriate addition of titanium hydride powder can reduce the final cost of titanium MIM, and has the potential to be applied in wearable medical devices and other fields.
