Zinc sulfide is used in the photocatalyst field.

By irradiating zinc sulfide with artificial light sources (such as ultraviolet lamps), active intermediates are formed on its surface, which can convert pollutants and harmful gases in the air into harmless substances and have broad application prospects.

Most of the aldehyde removal spray applications are photocatalyst methods. Photocatalyst materials include nanoscale titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, manganese oxide, copper oxide, etc., which can produce strong catalytic degradation function under the irradiation of light and remove indoor formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene, TVOC, and other harmful volatile gases. Decomposes into water and carbon dioxide, thereby purifying the air.

However, the photocatalyst needs to be continuously illuminated by light (especially the ultraviolet band) to achieve the best aldehyde removal effect. Ultraviolet light must be used in an unmanned environment or not directly irradiated to the human body.

In specific applications, the photocatalyst method can remove aldehyde in the whole house and small spaces. However, the area required to be sprayed to remove aldehyde in the house is large enough. The aldehyde removal effect will be poor if the spraying is not in place.

It should also be noted that although the spray can achieve an immediate aldehyde removal effect, it is only effective within a certain period. Once the reliable particles in the spray are covered by airborne dirt, the catalytic rate will be substantially lowered, influencing the impact of aldehyde removal.

"Formaldehyde removal spray" is best used under the guidance of professionals or by asking a professional agency to operate it.

In addition to aldehyde removal spray, photocatalyst "aldehyde removal filter paper" can be placed in small spaces such as drawers and cabinets to decompose formaldehyde released from wood boards. However, when removing formaldehyde in a small space, the filter paper can only remove the formaldehyde that has been released and cannot act on the sources of continuous volatilization.

Photocatalysts can achieve the best aldehyde removal effect under continuous ultraviolet irradiation. In practical applications, ensuring direct sunlight in a closed space or placing ultraviolet lamps isn't easy. Therefore, the use of filter paper to remove aldehyde also has limitations.

"Formaldehyde filter paper" can be used in small spaces but requires continuous UV irradiation.

However, when removing aldehydes in daily life, strong oxidants should be used cautiously to avoid secondary pollution that may cause harm to the body or equipment.

In addition to these aldehyde removal products, the most widely used one currently is "activated carbon packs." Although triggered carbon can absorb formaldehyde, carbon bag products are not extremely reliable at eliminating formaldehyde. The main reason is that the non-woven fabric on the carbon bag is very finely woven, resulting in a limited contact area between activated carbon and air, which affects the transmission efficiency of formaldehyde in the micropores and reduces the adsorption speed.

At the same time, using activated carbon requires a sufficient amount to achieve the adsorption effect. Even if it is bulk-activated carbon, the amount used in actual aldehyde removal is often insufficient, so the ideal aldehyde removal effect cannot be achieved. Therefore, using activated carbon products for whole-house aldehyde removal is not recommended. The advertisement's so-called "one box of activated carbon, three purifiers" is obviously an exaggeration.

Opening windows for ventilation is the most cost-effective

Putting aside various aldehyde removal products, opening windows for ventilation is the simplest, most economical and most effective way to remove aldehyde. After a new house is decorated, formaldehyde is released rapidly. It is best to leave it vacant and open the windows for ventilation for 1-3 months. Suppose you are hurrying to move in and want to remove formaldehyde quickly. In that case, you can use an appropriate aldehyde removal spray to reduce the formaldehyde concentration in the whole house. Utilize an air cleanser with an aldehyde elimination function to promptly minimize the focus of free pollutants airborne. At the same time, opening windows for ventilation or turning on the fresh air system further speeds up the aldehyde removal speed.

In addition, formaldehyde is highly soluble in water. Formaldehyde in textiles such as curtains and fabrics can also be effectively removed through cleaning.
