What is titanium carbide?
Titanium carbide, TiC relative molecular weight: 59.91. Density: 4.93 g/cm3. Melting point: 3160 , boiling point: 4820 . TiC is light gray, cubic crystal system, insoluble in water, and has high chemical stability. It has little chemical reaction with hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid but can be dissolved in aqua regia, nitric acid, and hydrofluoric acid. It is also soluble in alkaline oxide solution. It can be prepared by heating bone charcoal and titanium dioxide in an electric furnace. It is an important component of cemented carbide. It is used as a cermet and has high hardness; It has corrosion resistance characteristics and good thermal stability. It can also be used to manufacture cutting tools. It is used as a deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. Titanium carbide is a typical transition metal carbide. Its bond type is composed of ionic, covalent, and metal bonds mixed in the same crystal structure, so titanium carbide has many unique properties. The crystal structure determines that titanium carbide has high hardness, melting point, wear resistance, and conductivity. Titanium carbide ceramics are titanium, zirconium, and Chromium transition metal carbides are the most widely developed materials.
Preparation of titanium carbide
High-frequency induction carbothermal reduction method: weigh and mix pigment-grade titanium dioxide powder and charcoal powder with a molar ratio of 1:3 and 1:4, add them into a ball milling tank, mill them on a planetary ball mill for 6~10h, with a rotational speed of 300~400r/min, and then press the ball milling materials into 2cm on a tablet press × 2cm~2cm × 4 cm block. Finally, put the material into a graphite crucible and put it into the high-frequency induction heating equipment. Apply argon as the protective atmosphere. Gradually adjust the current of the high-frequency induction equipment to 500 A to make the material undergo a carbothermal reduction reaction. After the insulation is completed, the reduction product will naturally cool to room temperature in the argon atmosphere. Please remove the reduction product, grind it, and break it to obtain ultrafine titanium carbide powder.
Metal-thermal reduction method: a solid-liquid reaction method, which is an exothermic reaction, so the reaction temperature is low and the energy consumption is low, but the raw material is relatively expensive. The CaO and MgO in the product are pickled and cannot be recycled.

Uses of titanium carbide
1. Titanium carbide is only a component of tungsten steel. It also needs to use iron group metal (mainly cobalt) as the binder, mixed pressure forming, and separate titanium carbide can not be used as a tool
2. TiC is light gray, cubic crystal system, insoluble in water, has high chemical stability, and has little chemical reaction with hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, but can be dissolved in aqua regia, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and also in the solution of alkaline oxide.

Price of titanium carbide
Titanium carbide particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of titanium carbide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of titanium carbide can be found on our company's official website.
