What is tantalum carbide?
Tantalum carbide is a light brown metallic cubic crystalline powder belonging to the sodium chloride type cubic crystal system. Tantalum carbide is a sintering grain growth inhibitor for cemented carbide, with a density of 14.3g/cm3. It is insoluble in water, insoluble in inorganic acid, soluble in mixed acid of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid and decomposable. It has a strong antioxidant capacity and is easily melted and decomposed by potassium pyrosulfate. It has large conductivity, and the resistance at room temperature is 30 Ω. It shows superconductivity. It is used in powder metallurgy, cutting tools, fine ceramics, chemical vapour deposition, hard wear-resistant alloy tools, tools, moulds and additives for wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant structural parts to improve the toughness of the alloy. The sintered body of tantalum carbide shows golden yellow and can be used as watch decorations.
Tantalum Carbide TaC Composites
Macrostructure: the sample reacts at 1160 for one h to form TaC/Fe gradient composite. Macroscopic observation shows that the gradient of the reaction layer is obvious, the transition is uniform, the combination with the matrix is good, and there is no obvious peeling phenomenon. The thickness of the reaction zone during the diffusion-reaction process is about 1180 μ m. The sample mainly has four layers, namely layer A, layer B, layer C and matrix
Structure and composition: conduct XRD analysis on the composite material sample. Reaction zone exists α- Fe, TaC, G (graphite) three-phase, without Fe, Ta intermediate phase and Ta2C, and it can be seen that the diffusion reaction is full at this temperature, with a large amount of C diffusing and participating in the reaction. Point energy spectrum analysis was carried out on the reaction area's rectangular particles and cubic particles. The analysis showed a small number of Fe in addition to Ta, C. Ta atoms in the square particle phase and the percentage of C atoms was close to 1:1. This is mainly because the products Ta and TaC can dissolve into austenite; in the subsequent cooling process, TaC is formed by precipitation, while some Fe is still embedded in it, so a small amount of Fe is detected. Based on comprehensive judgment, it is believed that both cuboid and cube particles are TaC, and there is no intermediate Ta2C.

Microhardness of tantalum carbide
The microhardness of TaC surface gradient composites was tested from surface to matrix μ M Conduct a microhardness test. From the distribution of hardness values measured, it can be seen that the surface microhardness of TaC surface gradient composites is up to 2123HV0.02. Among them, the microhardness of the nano TaC layer is 1980~2025HV0.02, the microhardness of the micron TaC layer is 1750~2010HV0.02, and the microhardness of the TaC dispersion layer is 1640~1710HV0.02. The microhardness of the TaC layer decreases with the increase of the distance from the surface. However, its microhardness can still reach 5.5~7.0 times that of the grey cast iron matrix.

Price of tantalum carbide
Tantalum carbide particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of tantalum carbide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of tantalum carbide can be found on our company's official website.
