What is aluminum diboride?
Aluminum diboride is a chemical substance, a binary compound formed by aluminum and boron elements. It is a red solid, which loses its surface luster after heating, and is stable in cold dilute acid. It is decomposed in hot hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. The heating reaction obtains it after mixing fine powder of aluminum and boron. It is one of the two compounds of aluminum and boron, and the other is AlB12, which is usually called aluminum borate. AlB12 is a shiny black monoclinic crystal with a specific gravity of 2.55 (18 ), insoluble in water; acids and bases are decomposed in hot nitric acid. In structure, B atoms form graphitic sheets with Al atoms between them, which is very similar to the structure of magnesium diboride. The single crystal of AlB2 exhibits metal conductivity on the axis parallel to the hexagonal plane of the substrate.
Preparation of aluminum diboride
The structure of aluminum borate is similar to that of metal interconnects. Its structure mainly depends on the crystal structure of aluminum metal and boron rather than their valence relationship. The borides of aluminum include AlB2, AlB4, and AlB12. The diboride AlB2 can be formed by reacting two simple substances above 600 . It is a layered structure, with the direct overlap of Al atoms (A, A), and B atoms filled in a triangular column formed by the direct overlap of Al atoms; that is, the boron layer is between two aluminum layers; the structure of the boron layer is similar to that of graphite. The boron atoms are connected into a hexagonal network. The distance between each B atom and the other three B atoms is 0.173 nm. Six Al atoms are connected with B, occupying the apex of the triangular column. AlB2 can be dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid to produce a reducing solution, which may contain HB (OH)+3. AlB2 is insoluble in dilute sulfuric acid but soluble in nitric acid. AlB2 decomposes to form AlB12 at above 920 .

Structure of aluminum diboride
The B atom forms a graphitic sheet with an Al atom between them, which is very similar to the structure of magnesium diboride. The single crystal of AlB2 shows metal conductivity on the axis parallel to the hexagonal plane of the substrate. The boron-aluminum composite is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy reinforced by boron fiber or boron fiber with a protective coating. The volume content of boron fiber is generally about 45%~55%. The specific gravity is low, with High mechanical properties. The longitudinal tensile strength of unidirectionally reinforced boron-aluminum composite varies with the process. It is about 1.2~1.7GPa, different from the raw material, and the elastic modulus is about 200~240GPa.

Price of aluminum diboride
Aluminum diboride particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of aluminum diboride. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of aluminum diboride can be found on our company's official website.
