What is zinc stearate?
Zinc stearate, also known as "zinc stearate", is a white fine powder with a melting point of 118 ~125 and a relative density of 1.095. It has a special smell. It is insoluble in water, and soluble in hot ethanol, benzene, toluene, turpentine, and other organic solvents. It is heated and dissolved in organic solvents, and then cooled to form a colloidal substance. It decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding zinc salt when meeting strong acids. It has a fire hazard under dry conditions, and its self-ignition point is 900 , The explosion limit of its dust and air mixture is 11.6 g/m3. It is hygroscopic and non-toxic and can be used for products in contact with food, with a toxicity coefficient of T=1000. It is generally a mixture of zinc stearate and zinc palmitate, and usually contains a slightly excessive amount of zinc oxide (13.5%~15%). It can be used as a stabilizer for PVC plastics, a reinforcing agent for styrene plastics, phenolic plastics, and amino plastics, a drying agent for paints, and coatings, a leveling agent for enamel, a drying agent, and a sanding agent, a Textile polishing agent, plastic molding release agent, waterproof agent, emollient in cosmetics, and pharmaceutical powder, tablet, ointment, etc.
Use of zinc stearate
Zinc stearate is one of the representative varieties of main metal soap thermal stabilizers, which can absorb HCl and replace active chlorine atoms. However, the generated zinc chloride has a catalytic effect on the dehydrochlorination reaction. If the amount of zinc stearate is too large, it is prone to sudden degradation, that is, the "zinc burning" phenomenon, leading to initial coloring and other hazards. Generally, it is not used alone but is often used with barium soap, calcium soap, and other auxiliary metal soap thermal stabilizers. Phosphite, β- Non-metallic auxiliary stabilizers such as diketone and 2-phenylindole have a chelating effect on zinc chloride, so they are also important components of barium/zinc, calcium/zinc composite heat stabilizers. Zinc stearate is one of the main components of non-toxic metal soap heat stabilizers. In addition to being used as a heat stabilizer, this product is also a lubricant and release agent for the processing of rigid PVC, PS, ABS, phenolic resin, amino resin, and other thermoplastic and thermosetting plastics.

Preparation of zinc stearate
1. Put 1400g of stearic acid into the reactor under normal pressure and heat it to 130-160 , then add 70g of catalyst hydrogen peroxide and 220g of zinc oxide to react for 90 minutes and the reaction is in the melting state
2. Add 5g antioxidant and stir for 5-20 minutes
3. Add the molten zinc stearate prepared in step b into the mold with polyethylene wire mesh framework
4. After cooling, prepare blocky zinc stearate of the required shape.

Price of zinc stearate
Zinc stearate particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of zinc stearate. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of zinc stearate can be found on our company's official website.
