What is calcium stearate?
Calcium stearate is a fine white powder, non-toxic, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in hot ethanol and hot vegetable oil, and easily soluble in hot pyridine, relative density 1.08 and a melting point of 179 . It has water absorption in the air. It is decomposed into stearic acid and corresponding calcium salt in case of strong acid. It is pure white to yellow-white loose powder, fine, without the sense of sand particles, and has a light special smell. In the air, it has moisture absorption. Its melting point is 179 , insoluble in water, ethanol, and ether, and slightly soluble in hot ethanol. It is often used as an anti-bonding agent and adhesive, Emulsifier, film remover, stabilizer, coagulant, thickener, flavor enhancer, etc. The acid value is 191~203; ash content is 9.9%~10.3%; chloride is less than 200ppm; true density is 1.064-1.0969/cm3, fluidity is 21.2%~22.6% (Carr compressibility index), the free fatty acid is 0.3%~0.5%, melting point is 149-160 , water content is 2.96%, the specific surface area is 4.73~8.03m2/g, sulfate is less than 0.25%.
Application background of calcium stearate
In recent years, Sudan red and melamine incidents have occurred one after another, seriously damaging the competitiveness of Chinese food. The reasons are all related to raw materials. Some are chemical raw materials used instead of food additives. Some are misused due to the lack of identification methods. As a major food country, China still lacks many identification methods for food additive products, and it is urgent to fill in the gaps one by one. Stearic acid (salt) products are used as emulsifiers, anti-caking agents, and coating agents; It is widely used in the production and processing of candies, candies, pastries, chewing gum, some dairy products, and other foods. Common foods include calcium stearate, magnesium stearate, sodium stearate, potassium stearate, and stearic acid.

Determination of calcium stearate content
Accurately weigh about 1.2g of sample, add 50mL of 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid solution, boil for 10min, or until the fatty acid layer is clear, and add water if necessary to maintain the original volume. Cool, filter, and thoroughly wash the filtrate and flask with water until the final washing solution is no longer acidic to litmus. Neutralize the filtrate with 1mo l/L sodium hydroxide test solution until litmus is neutral. After fully stirring with a magnetic stirrer, add about 30mL of 0.05mol/L disodium EDTA solution through a 50mL burette; add 15mL of 1mo l/L sodium hydroxide test solution and 300mg of hydroxy naphthol blue indicator, and continue to titrate to the blue endpoint. 0.05mol/L disodium EDTA solution is equivalent to CaO2.804mg.

Price of calcium stearate
Calcium stearate particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of calcium stearate. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of calcium stearate can be found on our company's official website.
