Preparation of Molybdenum Powder

Ammonium paramolybdate or Calcined MoO3 is the material for making molybdenum powder. In industrial production, pure ammonium paramolybdate can be directly restored to molybdenum powder in the furnace, or it can be calcined into MoO3 at 550 ~ 650℃, and then restored to molybdenum powder. In the production of molybdenum products by powder metallurgy, high purity molybdenum powder, low oxygen content, fine particle size and uniform powder are required. Molybdenum powder is produced by the secondary restoration of MoO3 or ammonium paramolybdate to MoO2 in a round tube or muff tube electric furnace, and the second restoration is the restoration of MoO2 to molybdenum powder at a higher temperature. In order to ensure the quality of molybdenum powder, in addition to the recovery temperature, the flow rate and humidity, the thickness and pushing speed of the material layer, and the particle size of the material are all factors affecting the particle size of molybdenum powder. Generally, H2 flow is large and dew point is low, and the powder is fine, whereas the powder is coarse. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control these elements in the production process to obtain qualified powder.
