Lithium silicate, also known as lithium water glass, is a colorless to slightly yellow, odorless, transparent or translucent weakly alkaline liquid with a pH value of 11~12. The relative density and viscosity of the product varies with the product model, with a relative density between 1.16 and 1.20 (20°C). Liquid lithium silicate can be dissolved in water and alkaline solution, insoluble in alcohol and organic solvents, and acid action free gel. It has self-drying, solution water evaporation, can generate a dry film insoluble in water, with water irreversibility.

Preparation methods of Lithium Silicate:
1. Lithium hydroxide method: React sodium silicate with sulfuric acid to generate hydrated silicic acid and sodium sulfate, take its hydrated silicic acid and react with lithium hydroxide to generate lithium silicate and water to produce lithium silicate products.
2. Solid-phase method: Li-OH-H2O, Li2CO3 and SiO2 are used as raw materials, mixed ball milling, forging at high temperatures to obtain lithium silicate powder.
3. Sol-gel method: Sol-gel method is a commonly used liquid-phase method, which has many advantages, such as the reactants can be mixed uniformly, the reaction temperature is low, and the reaction is easy to carry out.
4. Activated silicic acid - lithium hydroxide method: the use of water glass solution according to the cation exchange method with a certain concentration of activated silicic acid solution and lithium hydroxide powder or aqueous solution reaction and made.
