Description
About Indium Graules:
Indium is a silver-white metal with the chemical symbol In and the atomic number 49. At room temperature, indium is a solid metal with a melting point of 225 ° C and a 7.31g/cm³ density. Its good physical and chemical properties, indium particles are widely used in many fields.
In terms of physical properties, indium particles have good flexibility and plasticity. This means that indium can be molded into various shapes and has excellent processing properties. In addition, indium has a low resistivity, which makes it an ideal material for manufacturing certain electronic components in the electronics industry.
In terms of chemical properties, indium particles are reactive. This means that it can react with certain chemicals and form compounds. For example, indium can react with chlorine to produce indium chloride, with sulfuric acid to produce indium sulfate, with sodium hydroxide to produce indium hydroxide, etc. In addition, indium can also react with certain metals to form alloys, such as aluminum, zinc, lead, etc.

Application of indium granules
Indium granules are an important material in transistors. Indiumgranules are used as a doping element and are added to the semiconductor germanium, which is required in large quantities to manufacture germanium crystal rectifiers and amplifiers. Indium is a trivalent and dopant element used to manufacture N-type germanium single crystals. Of the various germanium transistors, the most Indium is used in P-N-P diffusion alloy junction germanium transistors. This P-N-P junction transistor is manufactured by welding the two sides of the N-type germanium crystal sheet into an alloy using indium spheres and germanium, which recrystallizes into a P shape in the alloy area when the alloy cools, thus making a P-N-P junction.
In addition to its electrical properties, Indium has two other characteristics:
① Indium can wet germanium and can form an alloy with germanium at lower temperatures (500 to 550°C), thus making it easier to manufacture and reducing impurity contamination;
② Indium metal is flexible and does not produce stress in germanium after the alloy has cooled. The latest development in semiconductor materials is the three groups of semiconductor materials. Indium is also one of the main raw materials; Indium is the raw material of the three groups of compounds indium antimonide, indium arsenide, and Indium phosphide, of which indium antimonide is more mature. Indium antimonide has a great effect on infrared light, which other materials cannot replace, and the infrared detector made of it is promising in rocket technology and automatic control.

Production Method of indium granules :

Extraction method: This method takes advantage of the extraction differences between indium and other elements to separate indium from its mixture by a specific extractant. The process includes four steps: leaching, extraction, electrodeposition, and refining. First, a raw material containing indium is mixed with a strong acid such as hydrochloric acid to dissolve the indium in it. Then, an organic extractant is used to extract indium from the aqueous phase into the organic phase. Next, indium is electrodeposited from the organic phase onto the cathode by an electrodeposition process. Finally, indium is purified from the sediment by a refining process.

Electrolysis: This method uses electrolysis to separate indium from its compounds. The specific process includes three steps: leaching, electrolysis, and refining. First, raw materials containing indium are mixed with water to dissolve the indium in them. Then, under appropriate electrolytic conditions, electricity is applied to precipitate indium on the cathode. Finally, indium is purified from the sediment by a refining process.

Reduction method: This method uses a reducing agent to reduce indium from its compound to indium metal. The specific process includes three steps: precipitation, reduction, and refining. First, a precipitating agent is added to a solution containing indium ions so that indium ions form a precipitate. Then, a reducing agent is added to reduce the residue to indium metal. Finally, indium is purified from the sediment by a refining process.

Pyrometallurgy: This method uses the separation properties of indium from other elements at high temperatures to separate indium from its compounds. The specific process includes three steps: calcination, reduction, and refining. First, the raw material containing indium is calcined to decompose the indium compound into indium metal and gas products. Then, under reducing conditions, the metal indium is reduced from the gas product. Finally, indium is purified from the sediment by a refining process.

Either way, the production process must consider environmental protection and sustainability issues. To ensure the sustainability of the production process, it is necessary to strictly control the quality and amount of raw materials while optimizing the production process to reduce waste generation and energy consumption.

In addition to the above four methods, there are other production methods such as vapor deposition, melting, etc. Different production methods are suitable for different raw materials and production conditions, and it is necessary to choose the appropriate method for production according to the specific situation. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen technological research and development and innovation to improve production efficiency and achieve sustainable development and utilization of indium particles.
