Why is copper oxide difficult to react with water?

What is Copper oxide?
Copper oxide is an inorganic substance, chemical formula CuO, black oxide of copper, slightly amphoteric and slightly hygroscopic. Insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in acid, stable to heat, and capable of decomposing oxygen at high temperatures. Copper oxide is mainly used for making rayon, ceramics, glazes, enamels, batteries, petroleum desulfurizes, pesticides, hydrogen production, catalysts, green glass, etc.
Copper oxide is insoluble in water, and metal oxide cannot react with water if it is insoluble in water. Metal oxides are 100% insoluble in water if they do not react with water. Because oxygen is nonmetallic relative to all metals (including neutral ones), if the metal oxide AO is soluble in water, it will completely ionize into metal ions and oxygen ions, which will immediately react with water to generate hydroxide ions.
Physical properties of copper oxide
1. Properties: black or brown-black powder.
2. Density: 6.31g/cm3
3. Melting point: 1446
4. Refractive index: 2.63
5. Solubility: Insoluble in water and alcohol, soluble in dilute acid, ammonium chloride, ammonium carbonate, and potassium cyanide. Slowly dissolve in ammonia water to form a complex.
Main uses of copper oxide
1. It can be used as an organic synthesis catalyst, analytical reagent (for nitrogen determination), oxidant, catalyst, and petroleum desulfurized, and it can also be used to determine carbon in organic compounds.
2. Used as a colorant in glass, enamel, and ceramic industries, an anti-wrinkle agent for paint, and a polishing agent for optical glass. Used for manufacturing dyes, organic catalyst carriers, and copper compounds. It is also used in the rayon manufacturing industry and as a desulfurizer for grease. It is used as the raw material of other copper salts and the raw material of artificial gems.
3. Use of nanometer copper oxide
(1) It is widely used as an important inorganic material in catalysis, superconductivity, ceramics, and other fields.
(2) Used as a catalyst, catalyst carrier, and active electrode material.
(3) Used as a colorant for glass and porcelain, a polishing agent for optical glass, the catalyst for organic synthesis, a desulfurized, and a hydrogenation agent for oil.
(4) Manufacturing artificial gem and other copper oxides.
(5) Used in the manufacture of rayon, gas analysis, and determination of organic compounds, etc.
(6) It can also be used as a burning rate catalyst of rocket propellant. Nano-copper oxide powder has superior catalytic activity, selectivity, and others than large-size copper oxide powder.
Price of Copper oxide powder
Copper oxide particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of Copper oxide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of Copper oxide can be found on our company's official website.
