What is tantalum carbide?
Tantalum carbide is a black or dark brown metallic powder, cubic crystal system, hard, with a relative density of 13.9, a melting point of 3880 , and a boiling point of 5500 . It contains a mixture of 75% tantalum carbide and 25% hafnium carbide, with a melting point of more than 4200 . Its chemical properties are extremely stable. It is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid, and the mixed solution of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid. It is heated from external radiation with silicon carbide resistance using tantalum pentachloride and methane as the reaction gas, and argon as a carrier; it is made by mixing carbonized or tantalum pentoxide with carbon black, pressing powder forming, and heating in hydrogen or vacuum. It is used to make cutting tools. Tantalum carbide (TaC) is a member of the ultra-high temperature resistant ceramic family, with a high melting point (3880 ), high hardness (20GPa), high elastic modulus (450GPa), and good conductivity and thermal conductivity (25 , 42.1 μ Ω · cm-1, 22W · m-1 · K-1), chemical resistance, high-temperature strength, good thermal shock resistance and other excellent physical and chemical properties.

Application of tantalum carbide
Tantalum carbide can be widely used in tool steel, wear-resistant parts, hard coatings, conductive films, optical coatings, aircraft front edges, nose cones, and other fields. Tantalum carbide crucibles used to prepare aluminum nitride single crystals include: high-purity tantalum carbide powder, adhesives, sheathed molds, liquid pressure media, closed high-pressure containers, crucibles, lathes and high-temperature heating furnaces; Mix high-purity tantalum carbide powder and binder evenly, then dry them, and put them into the sheathing die material; Then it is loaded into a closed high pressure vessel filled with liquid pressure medium for high-pressure pressing to form a tantalum carbide crucible model; Put it into the crucible, and then put it into the high-temperature heating furnace for high-temperature sintering; A suitable tantalum carbide crucible is obtained by turning it with a lathe; The invention can prolong the service life of the tantalum carbide crucible, improve the crystal quality of the aluminum nitride single crystal, and increase the usable area of the single crystal; The method is simple and can realize the preparation of low-cost aluminum nitride single crystals.

Preparation of tantalum carbide
Take tantalum pentoxide and carbon black as raw materials. Mix tantalum pentoxide and carbon black fully into a reduction furnace. Heat and reduce them in hydrogen or vacuum at 1500 to obtain tantalum carbide powder. Or heat them in an inert gas to 1900 for preliminary reduction, and then conduct secondary carbonization under vacuum to obtain tantalum carbide. Alternatively, reduce tantalum pentoxide with aluminum in a graphite crucible. When the temperature is heated to 2000 , add pure graphite blocks; after the excess aluminum is generated into aluminum carbide, it is removed by cooling, the reactant is crushed, and the impurities are removed by inorganic acid, which is called high-purity tantalum carbide crystal. It can also be directly carbonized with metal tantalum and carbon black to produce coarser tantalum carbide particles.

Price of tantalum carbide
Tantalum carbide particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of tantalum carbide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of tantalum carbide can be found on our company's official website.
