What is calcium stearate?
Calcium stearate is a fine white powder, non-toxic, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in hot ethanol and hot vegetable oil, and easily soluble in hot pyridine, relative density 1.08 and a melting point of 179 . It has water absorption in the air. It is decomposed into stearic acid and corresponding calcium salt in case of strong acid. It is pure white to yellow-white loose powder, fine, without the sense of sand particles, and has a light special smell. In the air, it has moisture absorption. Its melting point is 179 , insoluble in water, ethanol, and ether, and slightly soluble in hot ethanol. It is often used as an anti-bonding agent and adhesive, Emulsifier, film remover, stabilizer, coagulant, thickener, flavor enhancer, etc. The acid value is 191~203; ash content is 9.9%~10.3%; chloride is less than 200ppm; true density is 1.064-1.0969/cm3, fluidity is 21.2%~22.6% (Carr compressibility index), the free fatty acid is 0.3%~0.5%, melting point is 149-160 , water content is 2.96%, the specific surface area is 4.73~8.03m2/g, sulfate is less than 0.25%.
Handling and storage of calcium stearate
Precautions for operation: close operation and pay attention to ventilation. Operators must receive special training and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks and chemical safety goggles. Keep away from kindling and heat sources. Smoking is prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Avoid dust generation. Avoid contact with oxidants. Handle with care; protect the packaging and containers from damage. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may contain harmful substances.
Precautions for storage: store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from kindling and heat sources. Store separately from the oxidant and avoid mixing storage. Provide fire fighting equipment of corresponding variety and quantity. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials to contain leakage.

Production method of calcium stearate
1. Direct method: add a certain amount of stearic acid and CaO into the reaction pot equipped with a stirrer and thermometer, heat up to melt, slowly add catalyst H2O2 under continuous stirring, and vacuum, control the reaction temperature at 140~150 , and react for 1.5~2.0 h. After the reaction is completed, discharge and cool, and crush the product
2. Double decomposition method: dissolve stearic acid in 20 times the mass of hot water, add saturated caustic soda solution, saponify at about 75 , and generate a dilute sodium stearate solution. Then add 1074 kg/m3 of calcium chloride solution to the sodium stearate solution, perform a double decomposition reaction at about 65 , and precipitate the product calcium stearate. Then filter, wash, and dry at about 90 to obtain the finished product.

Price of calcium stearate
Calcium stearate particle size and purity will affect the product's price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of calcium stearate. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The price of calcium stearate can be found on our company's official website.
