What is NbC powder?
Niobium carbide is a green cubic crystal with a metallic luster belonging to a sodium chloride-type cubic crystal system. Its melting point is high, its hardness is high (microhardness is 235GPa, which is harder than corundum), and its chemical stability is good (it is stable at one 000~1 100 and rapidly oxidizes to niobium pentoxide above one 100). Insoluble substances are hot and cold hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid, and they are only soluble in the hot mixed solution of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid. Niobium carbide is easy to melt in titanium carbide, zirconium carbide, tungsten carbide, and other compounds, resulting in an isomorphic solid solution, so it can be used to manufacture cermet, heat-resistant alloy, and cemented carbide. The cemented carbide with niobium carbide has refined grain and improved all-around performance. The cutting tools made of it also have good thermal hardness, thermal shock resistance, and thermal oxidation resistance.

What is NbC powder used for?
As one of the raw materials of composite ceramic materials, composite ceramic materials made of composite ceramic materials are often used in wear-resistant parts, cutting tools, electrodes, and other fields because of their high hardness, high melting point, excellent chemical stability, and electrical conductivity.

Cemented carbide can not only be used as an inhibitor of cemented carbide grain growth but also form the third dispersed phase except WC and Co together with other carbides, which can significantly improve the thermal hardness, thermal shock resistance, hot pressing resistance and oxidation resistance of cemented carbide. Niobium carbide can be used to prepare cemented carbide tool materials with excellent cutting performance because of its advantages of increasing the hardness and improving the fracture toughness of the alloy.

The hard niobium carbide hard phase of the surfacing-covered electrode enters the structure of the surfacing layer, which gives the welding layer a good wear-resistant skeleton and greatly improves the wear resistance. The wear resistance of this covered electrode surfacing wear-resistant alloy is 1.2~1.8 times higher than that of quenched No.45 steel (HRC50) and 2.4~3.6 times higher than Fe-Cr-C-B wear-resistant alloy. At the same time, the hard-facing layer can be welded on the surface of the workpiece without preheating, and the tiny cracks generated on the surface can release the stress of the hard-facing layer. They will not spread into the base material. D. Adding a small amount of niobium carbide to the steel strengthening phase during steelmaking can achieve the effects of precipitation strengthening and fine grain strengthening, thus improving the comprehensive mechanical properties of steel.

Aerospace components are used as preparation materials for many aerospace equipment parts, such as turbine rotors, gas rudders, blades, engine nozzle linings, and structural members of nuclear reactors.
