What is Titanium Nitride?
Titanium nitride, the molecular formula of it is TiN. Titanium nitride is a ceramic material that can improve the quality of the substrate's surface and is often used as coatings for titanium alloys, steel carbide, aluminum, and other components. Titanium nitride has a modulus of elasticity of 251 GPa, a Vickers hardness of 1800 ~ 2100, a superconducting transition temperature of 5.6 K, and a coefficient of thermal expansion of 9.35 × 10-6 k-1.

The properties of titanium nitride
Titanium nitride oxidizes at 800°C at room temperature. The tin coating color is brown and gold. It is chemically stable at 20°C but is corrupted by concentrated acid solutions at high temperatures. Depending on the surface finish and material of the substrate, the coefficient of friction between TiN and another TiN is 0.4 ~ 0.9. Typical TiN forms a NaCl-type crystal structure with a stoichiometric ratio of about 1:1. TiNx compounds are thermodynamically stable when x is 0.6 ~ 1.2.
TiN becomes superconducting at low temperatures, and the critical temperature of single crystals is as high as 6.0 K. The superconductivity of thin-film TiN has been extensively studied. Its superconductivity varies with sample preparation and is completely suppressed during the superconductor-insulator transition. When the TiN film is cooled to an absolute value close to zero, it becomes the first known superinsulator, which can increase its resistance by a factor of 100,000.
TiN is a hard ceramic material that coats titanium alloys, steel, carbide, and aluminum parts. Due to its golden-yellow surface can be used in high-performance ceramic and jewelry materials or medical devices such as scalpels and plastic bone saw blade materials. In addition, it is used as a conductive barrier in microelectronics and as an electrode in bioelectronic applications.
Characteristics of titanium nitride
Titanium Nitride is a stable chemical that doesn't react with metallic elements like calcium, iron, chromium and magnesium at extreme temperatures. Crucibles made of TiN are not able to work with alkaline or acidic slags when exposed to N2 and CO atmospheres. Thus, the TiN Crucible is an ideal place to study the interactions between steel and specific elements. In the event of a vacuum heating the titanium nitride that has a the lowest nitrogen content will be produced.
TiN is a kind of structural material with golden yellow color, high melting point, high hardness, good chemical stability, small wettability with metal, high electrical conductivity, and superconductivity, which can be applied to high-temperature structural materials and superconducting materials.
Titanium Nitride (TiN) is a nitrogen and titanium atoms compound. It has the chemical formula TiN and a molecular weight of 59.9. This compound is widely studied in ceramics, metals, and alloys because of its excellent properties, such as high hardness, melting point, good chemical stability, and corrosion resistance.

What is the difference between Titanium Nitride Ceramic Membrane and Nano Ceramic Membrane?
The composition of the titanium nitride ceramic membrane differs from the nanoceramic membrane. Titanium nitride ceramic membrane is prepared by physical evaporation deposition or ion coating technology using titanium nitride as the main raw material. On the other hand, nanoceramic membranes are composites consisting of nanoparticles with multiple compositions, depending on the raw materials used to prepare the nanoparticles.
The properties of titanium nitride ceramic films and nanoceramic films also differ. Titanium nitride ceramic membranes are characterized by high hardness, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature stability, so they are widely used in metal cutting tools, ceramic tools, and aerospace devices. Nanoceramic films have good biocompatibility, electrical conductivity, and magnetism and are widely used in medicine, energy, and all-solid-state batteries.
Due to the different properties of titanium nitride ceramic and nanoceramic films, their application areas are also different. The main application areas of titanium nitride ceramic membranes include metal cutting tools, ceramic cutting tools, aerospace devices, and medical devices. Nanoceramic membranes are mainly used in medicine, energy, all-solid-state batteries, and other fields.
In summary, although titanium nitride ceramic membrane and nanoceramic membrane are ceramic materials, their composition, performance, and application areas are different, and people need to choose to use them according to their actual needs.

What are all the application areas of titanium nitride?
