Nitinol shape memory alloy is a kind of functional material with high strength, corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility, non-toxicity and promising medical applications. After the Nitinol shape memory alloy is deformed in the low temperature phase, it can recover the shape memorized by the mother phase only by adding a temperature of 20 - 300 ℃. Its expansion rate is more than 20%, the fatigue life is up to 107 times, and the damping characteristics are better than ordinary The spring is 10 times higher and has properties that ordinary metals can't imagine.

Classification of Nitinol Wire
1. In 1940, gold bow wire, cobalt-chromium alloy wire and stainless steel round wire.

2. In 1960, martensite stabilized alloys: mostly nickel-titanium alloys were made after deformation in the martensite state. This kind of arch wire has low rigidity and can produce lighter correction force.

3. In 1980, Chinese nickel-titanium alloy and Japanese nickel-titanium alloy arch wires were austenite activated alloys: that is, they showed austenite state in any state, and they did not have temperature-induced Martensite when placed inside or outside the mouth.

4. In 1990, martensite activated nickel-titanium alloy: that is, TTR is lower than the oral cavity temperature or very close to the oral cavity temperature, exists in a multi-element state at room temperature, and is easy to deform.

5. Gradedthermodynamic: Increased thermodynamic nickel-titanium alloy: The TTR temperature is higher than the oral temperature, about 40°C, so that when the nickel-titanium archwire is placed in the oral cavity, it is still in a multi-component state and the archwire is relatively soft.

Clinical application of Nitinol:
1. It is used for the early alignment and leveling of the patient's dentition. Due to the superelasticity and shape memory properties of Nitinol arch wires and the lower stress-strain curve, Nitinol arch wires are routinely included in the treatment system as the initial stage in clinical practice.

2. Nitinol springs: Nitinol push springs and extension springs are springs used for orthodontics. They are super-elastic and suitable for orthodontic treatment to open up the gap between teeth and pull teeth in different directions.

3. The LH arch wire is researched and developed by Dr. Soma and others in Japan. "LH" is named from "Low Hysteresis", that is to say, when the arch wire is ligated to the bracket, it is produced when the arch wire is activated. The difference between the stress and the stress generated when the arch wire slowly returns to its original shape when the tooth is moved is very small.
