Some impurities will enter the hydrolysis mother liquor, so hydrolysis is also a purification process. After drying and calcining, pure germanium dioxide is reduced with hydrogen in the quartz tube of the reduction furnace at 650-680℃ to obtain metallic germanium. High-purity germanium (impurities less than 1/1010) used in the semiconductor industry can be obtained by zonal smelting.
